Knowla
@knowlaIn the first part of this series, we talked about data analysis, a powerful skill that gives students a competitive edge in today’s data-driven world.
But here’s something many students don’t realize:
Having skills alone is not enough.
You can be knowledgeable, hardworking, and even highly skilled… yet still be overlooked. No opportunities, no strong connections, no real visibility.
So what’s the missing piece?
Communication
Communication is one of the most underrated skills among students, yet it is often the difference between those who get noticed and those who don’t.
It goes far beyond simply “speaking good English.” At its core, communication is about how effectively you can express your thoughts, ideas, and value to others.
A student with strong communication skills can:
Explain ideas clearly and confidently
Present work in a way that captures attention
Write messages, emails, or posts that leave an impact
Within the academic environment, this skill shows up in subtle but important ways. It influences how well you defend your assignments or projects, how you interact with lecturers and supervisors, and how effectively you collaborate with your peers.
Outside the classroom, its impact becomes even more significant. Communication plays a key role in passing interviews, attracting clients, and building influence in any field.
Two students may possess the same level of knowledge and technical ability, yet their outcomes can be completely different. More often than not, the student who communicates better is the one who progresses further.
If you want to stand out as a student, don’t focus only on what you know rather focus on how well you can express it.
Communication is not just a soft skill; it is a career-defining skill.
In the next part, we’ll explore another essential skill that quietly determines who gains access to opportunities and who remains stuck.
Stay tuned. 👀
