Payout & Royalty Policy

This Payout & Royalty Policy outlines how authors, creators, and publishers earn royalties and how payouts are processed on Knowla. By publishing or selling content on the Platform, you agree to the terms stated herein.
1. Eligibility for Royalties
Creators are eligible to earn royalties when:
- Their book, script, or digital content is listed for sale on the Platform.
- A customer purchases or legally accesses their content.
- The Creator’s account is active, verified, and in good standing.
- All required banking or payout information has been provided accurately.
2. Royalty Structure
2.1 Revenue Share
Creators receive a percentage of each successful sale. Unless otherwise agreed in writing, the standard royalty distribution is:
2.2 Promotions & Discounts
If the Creator approves a discount or participates in promotional programs, royalties are calculated based on the discounted sale price.
2.3 Free Content
Content offered for free does not generate royalties unless the Creator participates in a Platform-approved program that compensates for views, downloads, or engagement.
3. Payment Threshold & Schedule
3.1 Minimum Payout Threshold
Creators earn from two separate revenue streams, each with different withdrawal rules:
A. Sales Earnings
- Includes revenue from book, script, and digital product sales.
- Can be withdrawn any time.
- Must pass the standard refund/chargeback clearance period.
- No time-lock — earnings are withdrawable immediately the customer receives the product.
B. Ads & Engagement Earnings (for monetized accounts)
- Includes ad revenue, engagement bonuses, read-time rewards, and promo engagement programs.
- Earnings are locked for a month before withdrawal is allowed.
- Ads/engagement earnings must also independently reach the $20 USD minimum.
- Cannot be withdrawn earlier even if the threshold is met.
C. No Combining Earnings
Sales earnings and ads/engagement earnings cannot be merged to reach the $20 threshold. Each stream must qualify on its own.
D. Dashboard Transparency
Creators will see two balances:
- Withdrawable Sales Earnings
- Locked Ads & Engagement Earnings (A-Month Timer)
Each shows the amount, status, and next eligible withdrawal date.
E. Dashboard Transparency
Ads or engagement revenue may be withheld if:
- Fake traffic is detected
- Click-fraud occurs
- Bots or manipulated engagement are identified
3.2 Payout Frequency
Payouts are processed:
- Monthly, within the first 3–7 business days, OR
- On-demand, if enabled by the Platform and the minimum threshold is met.
3.3 Payment Review Period
All sales undergo a 7–14 day clearance period to account for:
- Refunds
- Chargebacks
- Fraud prevention
- Payment processor verification
Royalties become withdrawable only after this clearance is complete.
4. Payout Methods
The Platform supports the following standard payout methods:
- Bank Card (Local)
- Bank Transfer (Local)
Creators are responsible for ensuring their payout details are correct. The Platform is not liable for delays or losses caused by incorrect or incomplete payout information.
5. Taxes & Compliance
5.1 Creator Responsibility
Creators are solely responsible for:
- Reporting earnings to their local tax authorities
- Paying any taxes applicable to their income
- Providing tax information if required (e.g., TIN, VAT ID)
5.2 Platform Responsibility
The Platform may deduct taxes as required by law and issue tax documents where applicable (e.g., withholding statements).
6. Refunds, Chargebacks & Disputes
6.1 Refund Impact
If a customer receives a refund, the corresponding royalty is deducted from the Creator’s earnings.
6.2 Chargebacks
In the case of a chargeback, the Platform may:
- Deduct the associated royalty
- Hold payouts until the dispute is resolved
- Temporarily suspend the Creator’s account for repeated chargebacks
7. Account Violations & Withheld Royalties
Royalties may be withheld or forfeited if a Creator:
- Uploads plagiarized, copyrighted, or illegal content
- Violates Platform policies or local/international laws
- Attempts to manipulate sales or commit fraud
- Fails to verify their identity or payout information
The Platform reserves the right to hold earnings until investigations are completed.
8. Account Closure
If a Creator closes their account:
- Outstanding royalties will be paid during the next payout cycle, provided the minimum threshold is met.
- If the threshold is not met, the earnings may be forfeited or paid at the Platform’s discretion.
9. Policy Updates
The Platform may update this Payout & Royalty Policy at any time. Creators will be notified of significant changes via email or in-app alerts. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
